My Breathwork Journey

Introduction


Let me start by saying the reason I'm writing about breathwork is because of breathwork itself and its undeniable impact. When I introduce myself as a Breathwork Specialist, people often ask what that means. Simply put, it means I can recommend specific breath techniques for various life situations. Whether you're feeling stressed, anxious, lethargic, or struggling with physical issues like inflammation, weight issues, addictions, or sleep problems, I provide tailored breath techniques to support your health and wellness. For emotional and trauma release, I use profound methods like  Divine Emergence Breathwork and Sonic Neural Breathwork.

Let me share some of my journey and how breathwork can help you achieve transformation.


My Breathwork Journey


A few years ago, my ex-partner was preparing for an Ayahuasca ceremony. Ayahuasca is a traditional Amazonian brew known for its profound effects due to its DMT content. At the time, I was on antidepressants and mood stabilizers, which made participating in the ceremony unsafe for me due to potential interactions. However, just around the same time, I discovered breathwork through friends who recommended it to me. I began working with Nurse Caron Barr, a Transformational Breathwork Facilitator. Her sessions, both private and group, led to deep and fast personal shifts. I experienced profound, intense emotional releases and breakthroughs, diving deep into issues like childhood wounds and forgiveness. The transformation was so significant that I felt compelled to share this practice with others.

One day, while on the beach, I expressed my desire to become a breathwork facilitator. Shortly after, I received an email asking if I wanted to become a breathwork facilitator—a perfect manifestation! The email was from Ben Holt, now my mentor at Awakened Breath. After discussing it with Caron and receiving her support, I completed the training and began facilitating breathwork in my community and online. Which I still do to this day! What is Breathwork? 


Breathwork bridges the physical and spiritual realms. It might sound “woo-woo,” but it's both scientifically and physiologically significant. While I teach various techniques, the style that has the most impact is conscious circular breathing practiced over extended periods. This approach helps bypass the thinking mind, allowing deep emotional and trauma release. Though my focus is on Divine Emergence Breathwork and Sonic Neural Breathwork, which all stem from Holotropic Breathwork, it’s essential to choose a trained facilitator who respects this powerful modality. 


Main Benefits of Breathwork


  • Stress Relief: Activates the parasympathetic nervous system, calming the mind and body.

  3. Practice Regularly: Incorporate breathwork into your routine, ideally in the morning.  Notice the shifts in your health and wellness.

  4. Listen to Your Body: Adjust the practice to suit your needs and comfort level, and journal about your experiences.
